Here is the course outline:
Welcome and IntroductionData-driven Instruction is using evidence collected before, during, and at the end of learning experiences to inform instructional next steps. Within a classroom, this can come in the form of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment. In this course, you will explore the purpose, the format for formal and informal strategies, and make connections with technology tools to support. |
Module 1: Purpose of Diagnostic, Formative, and Summative assessmentIn this module, the focus is to analyze your current assessment practice and make connections to the types and purpose of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment. |
Module 2: Formats for Formal and Informal Assessment StrategiesIn this module, you will explore the role formative (practice) and Summative (the game) assessment play within the professional learning communities instruction and learning cycle of Plan, Do, Check, Act, Repeat. Following this, you will explore the types of formal and informal assessments to support the cycle and compare it to your current list and add types you would like to add to your tool kit. |
Module 3: Tools for Gathering Data to Inform InstructionIn this module, you will explore the research behind data driven instruction, make connections to your pedagogy, and create an assessment using the tool of your choice. |
Final ReflectionThis is the final stage in the course. You will reflect on your journey and upload your final reflections as a link to the document used as your notetaking tool. |
