Students are growing up in a digital-first world that will demand new skills and new ways of thinking. In this 2-hour course, participants will learn the elements needed for genuine student-to-student collaboration.
Developing a Collaborative Classroom Culture
Research has confirmed that one of these skills students will undoubtedly need is the ability to collaborate with others to solve complex problems. This course will challenge participants to learn the elements needed for genuine collaboration. Additionally, participants will explore structures, strategies, and digital tools that can be used to create a collaborative classroom culture.

Welcome and IntroductionParticipants in this course will review elements needed to foster collaboration, as well as structures, strategies, and digital tools that can be used to create a collaborative classroom culture. |
Module 1: Understanding Genuine CollaborationParticipants will unpack what it really means to collaborate in the classroom by reflecting on previous knowledge/experiences with collaboration and exploring new resources about collaborative work that are grounded in research. |
Module 2: Structuring for Collaboration SuccessParticipants will investigate how to teach collaborative skills, along with how to use structures & strategies to ensure students become effective collaborators. |
Module 3: Designing Collaborative TasksParticipants will explore resources that demonstrate how to harness collaborative digital tools and how to incorporate both individual and group accountability in assignments. |
Final Reflection and ConnectionParticipants will explore a variety of resources and sample lessons in order to create their own collaborative lessons that can be taken back to the classroom. |
