Implementing the use of digital tools, along with effective teaching strategies, empowers educators to refine learning processes, and prepares them to address academic barriers. In this 2 hour course you will learn to implement digital tools that effectively teach and empower student learning.

Promoting Student Equity

 

Are you ready to level-up your instruction? Imagine a classroom where the instruction supported the individual learning styles and social emotional needs of all students. Odds are, every student has a different preferred learning style, which can make it difficult for even the most effective teacher.

Using technology as a vehicle to deliver content and further engage students in instruction, can transform learning beyond what we’ve previously thought possible. Implementing the use of digital tools, along with effective teaching strategies, empowers educators to refine learning processes, and prepares them to address academic barriers.  This in turn allows a more inclusive environment for all students. When educators are equipped with great strategies that promote equity across groups, it ensures that every learner has the opportunity to reach their maximum potential.

Participants in this course will analyze the importance of promoting student equity, identify barriers that hinder student growth and success, explore various tech tools that support and enhance individual learning needs, and develop tech-rich activities, that promote equity and self-awareness among students in content areas.

Welcome and Introduction

Welcome and introduction to the course learning objectives.

Module 1: The Importance of Promoting Student Equity

Although the terms, equality and equity sound very similar, they actually reference two very distinct concepts. Being able to address the differences through the use of technology will allow new levels of success to be obtained by the people in our organizations and to the populations we serve.

Module 2: Barriers to Student Growth and Success

In this module, we will identify various barriers that hinder student growth and success in the classroom.

Module 3 Discovering Tech Tools that Promote Equity

As you might imagine, equity is harder work than equality. In this module, participants will explore various tech tools that can be used to mitigate possible barriers and bring more equity into the classroom, **This module includes free, low-cost as well as, paid digital resources that your District/School may consider using to promote student equity in the classroom.
