Research indicates the level of teacher presence in the online classroom can maintain connections and promote communication and collaboration among students.  In this learning experience, participants will gain an understanding of what teacher presence means and the impact it has on student learning.  Participants will identify the components of building that teacher presence in a variety of ways.

Here is the course outline:

Welcome and Introduction

Online learning can be isolating or a collaborative experience. Research indicates the level of teacher presence in the online classroom can maintain connections and promote communication and collaboration among students.

Module 2: Understanding Teacher Presence

In this module you will begin to understand what is instructor presence and what are benefits of instructor presence on student engagement and performance.

Module 3: Teacher Welcome Videos

In this module you will begin to understand the key points to include when making your instructor video.

Module 4: Building Student Profiles Using Microsoft Forms

In this module you will learn how to personalize learning for students and how to create personal learning profiles in Microsoft Forms.

Module 5: Teacher Presence Instructional Activities

In this module you will learn what learning strategies are, the difference between direct and indirect instruction, and learn different ways to teach and assess in an online platform using PowerPoint.

Final Reflection and Connection

This course's final reflection summarizes each of the modules for understanding the importance of teacher presence to increase student engagement and performance.
